IHEEM members defined

IHEEM members are primarily drawn from two complementary professional career groupings:

  • Healthcare Engineers: drawn from those involved in the planning, design, construction, employment and maintenance of plant, equipment, machinery and apparatus used in the engineering and associated services of healthcare facilities. Many IHEEM healthcare engineers are progressing to or are registered through IHEEM as Engineering Technician, Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer.

Healthcare Estate Managers: drawn from those involved in the planning, design, construction, use, management and maintenance of buildings, structures and grounds and associated services of healthcare facilities.

Other stakeholders

  • Public sector and private sector employers
    • Other professional bodies and institutes, particularly engineering institutes
    • Engineering UK and the Engineering Council
    • The NHS in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland along with healthcare providers in nations where IHEEM members are employed
    • Private healthcare providers
    • The public
