Shaping the healthcare engineering and estatemanagement landscape
The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) is the United Kingdoms largest specialist organisation dedicated to furthering careers of healthcare engineers and estate managers. IHEEM devotes its resources to helping and supporting its members with through-life assistance in developing careers and providing a benchmark of excellence in professional quality assurance.
This Section sets out why the institute exists, the benefits we provide for members, our checklist of ten principles and our legacy aspirations.
Our Vision is that society has confidence and trust in the professionalism of IHEEM members and our Mission is to contribute knowledge in the art and science of healthcare engineering and estate management for the good of society. These are worthy ideals that have stood the test of our sixty years existence and continue to generate a vibrant and active membership community.
As a not-for-profit, independent, non governmental institute IHEEM enjoys access to a dedicated knowledgeable and educated community for our members benefit. With our professional membership split roughly 50%150% between public and private sectors our members benefit from unparallel access to relevant information through branch networking, professional events and our own programme of seminars, conferences, monthly publications, and our knowledge based members only website area. Our specialist educational and technical contribution is unequalled in the United Kingdom and is resulting in IHEEM membership growing at its fastest rate for twelve years. Having MIHEEM or FIHEEM after your name means integrity, high standards of individual professionalism and quality assurance.

Sample Sites
Your installation includes sample data, designed to show you some of the options you have for building your website. In addition to information about Joomla! there are two sample "sites within a site" designed to help you get started with builidng your own site.
The first site is a simple site about Australian Parks. It shows how you can quickly and easily build a personal site with just the building blocks that are part of Joomla!. It includes a personal blog, weblinks, and a very simple image gallery.
The second site is slightly more complex and represents what you might do if you are building a site for a small business, in this case a Fruit Shop.
In building either style site, or something completely different, you will probably want to add extensions and either create or purchase your own template. Many Joomla! users start off by modifying the templates that come with the core distribution so that they include special images and other design elements that relate to their site's focus.

Extensions
The Joomla! content management system lets you create webpages of various types using extensions. There are 5 basic types of extensions: components, modules, templates, languages, and plugins. Your website includes the extensions you need to create a basic website in English, but thousands of additional extensions of all types are available. TheĀ Joomla! Extensions Directory is the largest directory of Joomla! extensions.
